Abstract

COVID-19 is caused by a new corona-virus that was first discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is to blame for the ongoing global health crisis. The pandemic has resulted in significant mortality worldwide. (1) India has these largest burden of COVID-19 cases globally, where finding of samples from people on the immune effects and antiviral activities of particular foods and herbs on corona viruses have been collated, with the aim of promoting the use of dietary therapy and herbal medicine as COVID-19 preventive therapies, 495 participants had responded, of which 367 (74.1%) had not used any Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) product or home remedies while 128 (25.8%) people used CAM products and home remedies during the treatment and even afterward, but there were no reported acute or severe adverse effects with these products. The large number of studies available proves that foods and herbs have antiviral properties and can avoid COVID-19. To prevent infection and improve immunity, foods and herbs may be used as nutritional or complementary therapy. However, these hypotheses need to be experimentally verified for COVID-19 patients.(2) where it is essential to ensure the safety of these interventions on long-term use because patients with other commodities can have a detrimental effect due to these products or due to drug herb interaction with their ongoing medications.
